While some countries are in the process of adopting digital assets, Hesperides University is set to make history by launching Spain’s first master’s degree specifically focused on Bitcoin, starting on April 28, 2025.
The university has come up with a ten-month program targeting investors, engineers, legal professionals, business magnates, and basically everyone who wants to learn about the most sought-after cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. The language of the program will be entirely in Spanish, offering 60 ECTS credits.
The program aims to help an individual learn everything about Bitcoin, from the basics to the advanced. Many companies have built their models around this technology, but they are facing problems due to the lack of professionals specializing in Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies.
The best part of this course is not the theory but the practical, with a space to attend workshops, strategies about self-preservation, node operation, POW mining, privacy practices, and tax. To make it even more interesting, participants will receive gifts such as a Blockstream Z hardware wallet and a book written by the program’s director, Álvaro D. María.
Every little detail involved in this program makes it even more special and exciting. The professors involved in the program are renowned economists Juan Ramón Rallo and Álvaro D. María, famous for his seminal work The Philosophy of Bitcoin, is in charge of the master’s degree. Leading voices from businesses such as Jan3 and BTC Inc. are part of the teaching team, bringing practical knowledge directly to the (virtual) classroom.
That’s not all; like any other university programs, participants will have the opportunity to strengthen their professional network in the crypto world. Because the university has kept the participants’ future in mind and created bridges to the job market by partnering with Bitcoin-focused companies.
Talking about the main part, the program will have a duration of 10 months, but those who want to move forward as quickly as possible can also opt for a 6-month postgraduate version. The university has not yet disclosed fees but is offering financial plans. Applications, document review, and admissions interviews are all part of the selective enrollment process.
